Critiques
A poor downtrodden individual which can’t help but stew in her bottomless desire to become something that she is not, but that she constantly sees in others, this depiction of envy make you feel sorry for her. She honestly looks like someone should give her a hug or something to put a smile back on that face.
A really cute outfit, particularly the Mr. Game And Watch on the shirt and the combination of toe socks and fingerless arm warmers is always a welcome combination due to the fact both are out of the ordinary. The color combination and coloring job on this one is really well done.
The shading and shadows in general are good where present, but mysteriously absent in a few spots if you are the sort of person who sits and squints at the patterns on someone’s shorts. To be fair though the shorts are mostly BLACK and adding a darker shade of black to it is just not possible. There are some tricks for getting around that by using a really dark other color which looks black or almost black and then using a slightly darker still color to add shadows and shading to it, but that can also just end up looking bizarre.
I give this one a 5 of 5 for vision because it really nails the presentation of the idea, and the idea is not one which I often seen.
As I just said, this is not something you generally see in a depiction of envy. Typically some sort of angry wrathful being is involved or some other kind of insidious medium of expression. I can’t properly express how much that annoys me both in fiction and in life. If I feel envious of something I either just keep it to myself and stew or it turns into a feeling of admiration, and I say something complimentary towards whomever generated the feeling. I give this picture a 5 of 5 for originality.
A very well drawn picture with a single, barely noticeable visual oddity to it. Probably would go unnoticed by most people anyway. A 5 of 5 for technique.
Mixed feelings on impact. On the one hand I feel really bad for this person and want to do something to make them feel less sad. On the other hand I am filled with joy at the fact they aren’t a spiteful foaming mouthed bitch. A 5 of 5 for impact either way I suppose.
